A few questions about the LTE UE (handset) signal components?

I'm new to LTEi so apologies up front for my severe lack of knowledge.
1. Bandwidth limits and typical amount used for a voice call
From what I have read thus far it seems that the handset could use anywhere from six to one-hundred resource blocks of 180kHz(~1.1 MHz to 20 MHz range). Is this true? It would be useful to understand how much would be used typical for a voice call?
2. Time domain stuff
My understanding is that the two dimensions of a "resource block" are 180kHz of bandwidth is one of them and a "slot" of 0.5ms is the other one. During the 0.5ms "slot" the transmitter (if the particular slot is to be used)will transmit six symbols with bandwidth of 180kHz (assuming just one resource block is used). These are transmitted one after the other - hence SINGLE CARRIER ofdm.
Now it seems that like bandwidth, the "slots" are also assigned depending on whats needed but I can find no inforamtion regarding the minimum or typical numbers in relation to say a voice call or anything else. I guess the minimum would be a single slot of 0.5ms every frame (10ms)? and the maximum would be every slot per frame?
3. Spectral components
Assuming only some (not all) of the slots of a complete frame are allocated, and this remains the case for a while, the transmitted RF signal from the handset will have a 'pulsed' nature with a period that is always equal to the frame period of 10ms. Is this true?
Taking this further, it looks like the handset, when registered but not actively in a call etc, will be periodically transmitting in PUCCH elements. These seem to hop between extremes of the LTE band. I would expect that this might result in more 'pulsed' transmitted signal?
