solution / referrence - how to host application/sw on a eNB?

let say you would want to host an application / proxy / etc on an eNodeBi in order to save the round trips to the GW (and for some other reasons).
how could it be does?
i see a challange in the protocol side, since the application layer is in the GW (or beyond)...
any suggestions?
