We are testing our LTEⁱ femto-cell base station with various devices, and although we have successfully tested it with Verizon and Vodafone dongles (manufactured by Pantech and Huawei respectively), we are facing issues with attaching the iPad mini to it.

Basically, I would like to know if there is any tool available to see the lower layer messages (synchronization, RACH, etc.) exchanged between the user equipment (iPad mini in this case) and the eNodeBⁱ. I have found that there are tools similar to Wireshark to capture WiFi packets on Apple devices, but I want to know if these tools capture lower layer packets as well, and if not, if there are any that do.

Any help would be gratefully acknowledged.
