  • Ericsson and Intel have successfully completed the 5G 3.5GHz multi-vendor end-to-end Interoperability Developmental Test (IoDT) at a 5G field test in the Chinese capital of Beijing. The 5G technology research and development test on 3.5GHz is being led by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

  • Nokia is to completely modernize private nationwide LTE network for Ukkoverkot, the Finnish network operator offering wireless data communications services for infrastructure operators, the industrial IoT market, public safety authorities, the maritime industry and both residents and enterprises in remote areas. 

  • T-Mobile, Nokia, and Qualcomm, have exceeded gigabit speeds using evolved, commercially-available 4G LTE technology. In tests at T-Mobile’s lab last week, download speeds of 1.175 Gbps were achieved on T-Mobile’s LTE network utilizing Nokia’s AirScale Base Station together with the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem. 

  • Ericsson has introduced a new radio product, AIR 3246, for Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (Massive MIMO), which is a complement to Ericsson’s global 5G radio offering. AIR 3246 supports both 4G/LTE and 5G NR (New Radio) technologies and is Ericsson’s first 5G NR radio for frequency division duplex (FDD). 

  • Ericsson and Hong Kong' SmarTone today announced successful trial of Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) technology in a live over-the-air demonstration in Hong Kong. LAA allows the use of unlicensed spectrum in the 5GHz band in combination with licensed spectrum.

  • Verizon, Ericsson and Qualcomm achieved 1.07Gbps (gigabits per second) download speeds with commercial silicon and network infrastructure using the Qualcomm SnapdragonTMX20 LTE Modem that supports Category 18 LTE speeds, during an Ericsson lab trial. 

  • Huawei has launched 5G-oriented mobile bearer solution X-Haul to support operators' 5G service expansion and help operators build end-to-end 5G networks.

  • Singapore's Singtel plans to deploy Massive MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology commercially on its LTE-Advanced mobile network, to enhance mobile data speed experience by up to 200% at special events for its customers.

  • Aviation communications provider SmartSky Networks has started deployment of the airborne 4G LTE-based air-to-ground (ATG) network. Using 60 MHz of spectrum and beamforming technology, SmartSky’s network plans to provide more than 10 times the typical speed and capacity of the current industry standard ATG network, and at a lower cost per bit.

  • Nokia is broadening its focus into multiple areas of early 5G mobility use cases, including enhanced mobile broadband and ultra-reliable, ultra-low latency communications, company announced yesterday.

  • 25 July 2017, Shenzhen, China – ZXCTN 609, the new high-speed transmission network solution recently released by ZTE Corporation, was recognized for its  network slicing innovations and support for 100G links in a report by industry research firm GlobalData.

  • Ericsson, Qualcomm and Russian mobile network operator MTS have conducted a successful live trial with a commercial small cell product of Rel-13 Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) technology in Russia. LAA leverages the 5GHz unlicensed spectrum band together with licensed spectrum to deliver enhanced performance for mobile device users

  • ZTE has announced the completion of tests in seven major scenarios that are part of the second phase of China’s National 5G tests. Phase 2 of China’s National 5G tests, organized by IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, were conducted in Huairou in Beijing.
