South Korea's telecom service provider SK Telecom has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rohde & Schwarz, a Germany-based manufacturer of test and measurement equipment for mobile radios and radio communications, on joint research and development of next-generation antenna technologies. 

South Korea's operator SK Telecom has launched LTE international roaming services in Canada and Switzerland under partnerships with Canada’s Rogers and Swiss Swisscom.  

South Korea's wireless operator SK Telecom has debuted the LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) service through smartphones. SK Telecom has successfully demonstrated a core LTE-Advanced technology named Transmission Mode 9 (TM-9) under partnership with Ericsson, operator announced today.  TM-9 defines the way of transmission between mobile devices and base stations. South Korean service provider SK Telecom has launched HD voice call service over LTE. According to the company, HD voice call connection time is less than 0.25 to 2.5 seconds, 2 to 20 times shorter than 3G voice calls that require an average of 5 seconds to connect a call.

Despite continuous rise in smartphone penetration and strong growth of LTE subscriber base, SK Telecom's revenue decreased by 0.6% year-on-year due to the impact of diverse mobile tariff cut measures including lowering of the monthly basic rate, company announced today.
