Data traffic offloading

in LteWorld Forum

Hi,
I'm currently working on the data offloading techniques in lte. It will be great if anyone can help me to understand the answers for the following queries in the offloading to WiFi from lte.
1.After registering with the trusted WiFi network, will the ue context maintained in mme.
2. Is that the traffic alone is offloaded to WiFi and the control plane still remains in mme
3. If the ue context is not maintained in the mme, how will the ue be paged for an incoming cs call using csfb.
4.While Returning to lte, does the ue sends an attach again to the EPCi as in the case of handover from cdma.

Thanks in advance
Praveen

Wifi Offload

Dear Praveen,

We have recently deployed Wifi Offload in our LTEi Core. Please find below answers that might can help you.

1- While UEi registered in WIFI network , UE will maintain its context in MMEi as well. SO there will be two different sessions on mme i.e one for "MME(xTC.DI)" and other will be "EWAG IPSG" session(GWCNAC).

2- While having both LTE and wifi EWAG sessions you will not see PGW session, instead PGW session(WTCNAI) get converted or show as IPSG session(IWCNAI).

3- As i mentioned above control plane still remain parallel in MME, so in case CSFBi incoming CS call that will be handled by MME.

I hope that clear some of your points for WiFi offload. In case you need any more help you can reach me at kashif_rasul@yahoo.com
