  • China Mobile has started receiving pre-orders of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C which support the Operator’s TD-LTE technology, Xinhua News Agency has reported.  Operator has signed LTE deals with more than 10 mobile phone makers, including Samsung, HTC and Xiaomi.

  • GSA, the Global mobile Suppliers Association, has announced that 251 LTE networks in 93 countries are now commercially launched. The number of countries with LTE service has grown 45% this year. 

  • GSMA forecasts one billion 4G-LTE connections worldwide by 2017. At the end of 2013, there were 176 million LTE connections globally. Nearly 500 LTE networks are forecast to be in service across 128 countries, roughly double the number of live LTE networks today.

  • At this year’s LTE North America, ERCOM will demonstrate how Mobile Network Operators, (MNOs) can master the complexity of HetNet deployments for increased efficiency using network emulation.

  • According to a latest Ericsson mobility report, global mobile subscriptions are expected to reach 9.3 billion by 2019, and more than 60 percent of these will be for smartphones. WCDMA/HSPA networks are predicted to cover 90 percent of the world's population by 2019.

  • Earlier this week Intel announced the commercial availability of its multimode, multiband 4G LTE solution. Intel's XMM 7160 LTE modem is now shipping in the 4G version of the Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 (10.1) which is available in Asia and Europe.

  • During 2013 there have been at least 15 smartphones launched to date, and there might well be some more before the year is out. While many of these have really more or less sneaked in by the back door, others have been heralded by bugle calls from the roof and other hype generating publicity blazes.

  • GSA confirms that 222 operators have commercially launched LTE services in 83 countries. Report also states that 474 operators are investing in LTE in 138 countries.

  • TETRA has been very successful in delivering mission critical voice with simultaneous narrowband data services for emergency services and other sectors, and as with all successful technologies the price has decreased over time, whilst the level of functionality has increased.

  • 200 LTE networks have been commercially launched in 76 countries by 31 July 2013, confirms the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA). 54 LTE networks of these have been launched in the first 7 months of 2013.
