  • There are 120 commercially launched LTE1800 networks in 63 countries, according to a recent GSA (the Global mobile Suppliers Association) report. So far 279 LTE networks have been commercially launched in 101 countries.

  • According to recent GSA report 154 manufacturers have announced 1,563 LTE-enabled user devices globally. 742 new LTE user devices were launched in the past year, representing 90% annual growth. During same period, number of manufacturers increased by 58% to 154 companies.

  • Beginning today AT&T is offering Microsoft Surface 2 with LTE connectivity. Surface 2 (AT&T 4G LTE), a 64GB mobile broadband-ready version of Surface 2, is now available to purchase for $679 USD (ERP) in the US market.

  • Competition is fierce as operators look to sign up consumers to their new superfast 4G networks and make a return on their spectrum auction investment. A reason for this is that operators aren’t offering consumers anything beyond commodity services, such as 4G roaming bundles.

  • While LMR systems have effectively support mission-critical voice and low-bandwidth data applications for many years, they fail to provide the high-speed data performance necessary to support the multimedia applications on which today’s Public Safety agencies increasingly rely upon. 

  • Recent GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) report confirms deployment of 274 LTE commercial networks in 101 countries across the globe. List includes, 11 operators who have commercially launched LTE services so far this year.

  • GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) confirms that 132 manufacturers have announced 1,371 LTE-enabled user devices, including frequency and carrier variants. The number includes 705 new LTE user devices that were launched in the past year. During same period, the number of manufacturers increased by 52%.

  • The GSMA has released findings of a new study from ATDI, which examines ways to mitigate interference between new LTE mobile signals and existing and planned television services.

  • Altair Semiconductor recently announced that its FourGee-3100/6202 chipset was selected to connect the new HP Chromebook 11.6” LTE to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.

  • A latest report from GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) confirms that 263 LTE networks have commercially launched in 97 countries till date. In last year alone, 112 LTE networks were launched worldwide.
