Indonesian operator Indosat and Nokia Siemens Networks have conducted FDD LTE field trial in the 1800 MHz band.

Warsaw-based LTE/LTE-Advanced IPR provider IS-Wireless has acquired funds for research on 5G radio interfaces. The funding is done through participation in 5GNOW European research project under the 7th Framework Program of EU.

Zambia's communication solutions provider Zamtel today launched its 4G LTE service in Kitwe. Zamtel has also set up a walk-in 4G Live Experiential Centre at its Kitwe offices, where customers can experience LTE in operation.

Three UK has 3.1 million 4G customers now, just 10-months on from its commercial launch, representing over a third of Three’s 8 million customers. Three began enabling customers in March with all subscribers eligible to access 4G at no extra cost.

Lithuanian mobile operator has announced that it is providing LTE connectivity to 80 percent of the country's population now. Additionally, Omnitel began offering 4G + LTE-Advanced services in the five largest cities in the country in December. 

UK's 4G spectrum auction is set to get under way by the end of 2012, announced regulator Ofcom today. The auction will offer the equivalent of three quarters of the mobile spectrum in use today – some 80% more than released in the 3G auction which took place in 2000.
