Poland has become the fourth country in the world to have a commercial LTE network. Polish operators CenterNet and Mobyland have collaborated to launch LTE services in the 1.8GHz band.

LTE-Advanced and IEEE 802.16m WiMAX have cleared the ITU 4G standard requirements, according to Korea Communications Commission.

SK Telecom has successfully demonstrated a core LTE-Advanced technology named Transmission Mode 9 (TM-9) under partnership with Ericsson, operator announced today.  TM-9 defines the way of transmission between mobile devices and base stations. It has been chosen as a new LTE-A specification by 3GPP in June 2011.

Vodafone Spain has become the first operator to commercially introduce the femtocells in Spain.

Ooredoo has picked Nokia Siemens Networks to provide complete LTE radio and core network. Operator recently launched 4G LTE mobile broadband services in the country.

3GPP has announced the completion of the standalone (SA) Release 15, 5G specifications paving the way for 5G commercialization. Earlier in Dec. 2017, 3GPP has released the 5G NR specifications for non-standalone (NSA) operation. 

Nokia Solutions and Networks is extending its Flexi Zone architecture to cover all deployment scenarios. Software-based hot zone controller runs on macro sites to support nearby small cells.
