4G Americas to Host 5G World North America
Dallas, USA, 9 June 2015 - 5G is the future connected world that is currently being developed by leading research, academia, commercial and organizational institutions. Informa Telecoms & Media announced today that 4G Americas, a 5G leading organization, will host a new event, titled 5G World North America, at LTE North America on 18-19 November 2015. The conference will address 5G networks of 2020 and beyond, use cases, technology recommendations, spectrum requirements and innovations as well as the new technology features for LTE and LTE-Advanced that will evolve to 5G.
Informa selected 4G Americas, a wireless trade association representing the 3GPP family of technologies, including LTE-Advanced and beyond to 5G, to host 5G World North America, in recognition of the organizations insightful pre-standardization work, collaboration and recommendations for 5G in the Americas and across the globe.
North America is a global leader in LTE technology, and as the world looks towards a changing mobile broadband landscape, the region is particularly being looked at to help steer and contribute to the successful development of 5G. Cisco's Visual Networking Index 2015 recently forecast that Internet traffic in North America will reach 49.7 exabytes by 2019, at a CAGR of 21 percent, second only to the much more populated Asia Pacific region at 54.4 exabytes. On a global scale, IP traffic has increased more than fivefold in the past five years and is expected to increase nearly threefold by 2020, with the number of devices connected to the Internet expected to be three times as high as the global population in 2019. The explosion in data traffic is just one of the many important issues to be addressed by the developing 5G ecosystem.
New for 2015, 5G World North America will be co-located with LTE North America (17-19 November). In addition to the 5G discussion, key topics to be addressed at the conference include LTE Public Safety networks, VoLTE and LTE services, IoT applications over LTE and many more.
4G Americas recently produced a significant 5G whitepaper titled, 4G Americas' Recommendations on 5G Requirements and Solutions, which highlighted that the development of 5G should provide global harmonization under a single framework and allow time for true advances of technology, feasibility studies, product development and standardization.
"It is vital that North America focuses on 5G research and development," commented Chris Pearson, President of 4G Americas and a keynote presenter on the 5G World North America agenda. "5G is still in its early stages in terms of examining use cases, requirements and component technologies. 5G World North America will look to help build upon the initial groundwork for all of this, and stress that the time for collaboration and cooperation is now."
4G Americas, a Market Representation Partner at 3GPP, has a number of liaison agreements regarding 5G with organizations across the globe, including 5GPPP, NGMN Alliance and ATIS.
"4G Americas has put major efforts into becoming an evangelist for the successful future of mobile technology as we move towards 5G," said Alejandro Pinero, Head of Production of LTE North America, Informa Telecoms & Media. "We have every confidence that 5G World North America will meet its aims of bringing the entire ecosystem together to help drive standards and offer spectrum and technology recommendations for 5G."
5G World North America will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dallas, Texas, USA on 18-19 November 2015.
