Allot Launches Service Gateway Sigma E for LTE networks
Boston, MA – January 25, 2011 – Allot Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ: ALLT), a leading supplier of service optimization and revenue generation solutions for fixed and mobile broadband service providers worldwide, announced today the launch of Allot Service Gateway Sigma E (SG-Sigma E). Boasting 160 Gbps of throughput and supporting 8 million subscribers on a single platform, SG-Sigma E is designed to meet the high-speed and extreme performance requirements of 4G/LTE and fixed-mobile converged networks, enabling operators to enhance the user experience whilst generating revenue from over-the-top (OTT) applications. SG-Sigma E will be on display for the first time during Mobile World Congress from 14-17 February, hall 2, booth B53.
Allot SG-Sigma E is the only service gateway platform of its kind to deliver extreme performance of up to 1 Terabit per second in a clustered configuration. Acting as a nerve center in the network, the platform enables operators to expand their role in the Internet value chain by providing vital information on applications, subscribers and network topology. This knowledge is crucial to implementing Intelligent Charging models which enable the monetization of OTT applications such as video, social networking and more. SG-Sigma E is also designed to reduce deployment complexity, time-to-market and TCO for the operator, by enabling in-platform deployment of Allot or third party network and subscriber services such as video optimization, advanced media caching and DoS/DDoS protection.
“With the huge amount of traffic expected on LTE networks, operators must put in place solutions that will enable them to manage the oncoming torrent of data,” said Shira Levine, directing analyst for next gen OSS and policy at Infonetics Research. “For the mobile Internet market to continue its exponential growth, those solutions need to be specifically designed to provide the performance and intelligence required to maximize network efficiency, enable smart charging and deliver next-generation services that will open up new revenue streams to operators.”
“LTE signifies the next big step forward for mobile Internet. It represents a huge opportunity for operators to improve the way they deliver Internet to subscribers in terms of throughput, the services that they offer and how they charge for it,” said Rami Hadar, Allot’s President and CEO. “SG-Sigma E is designed to do exactly that.”
The highly scalable SG-Sigma E architecture enables pay-as-you-grow deployment, allowing operators to upgrade capacity and add services at any time. SG-Sigma E is based on AdvancedTCA® standards, 3GPP fully-compliant and engineered to meet the NEBS design guidelines.
Allot Communications pioneered the concept of a carrier-class platform for intelligent network management and integrated services in 2007 with the launch of Service Gateway Omega. SG-Sigma E is the third generation of this vision.
