HOD HASHARON, Israel, December 11, 2012 — Altair Semiconductor (www.altair-semi.com), the world’s leading developer of ultra-low power, small footprint and high performance 4G LTE chipsets, today announced that its FourGee-3100/6202 chipset has been selected by China Mobile to power LTE devices from leading OEMs to be used in the next phase of China Mobile’s large-scale trial of TD-LTE technology in China.

The selection of Altair by China Mobile follows a rigorous qualification process, including extensive interoperability, lab and field testing conducted by China Mobile and China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). China Mobile has spearheaded the introduction of TD-LTE technology and has announced plans to deploy 20,000 TD-LTE base stations in 2013 as well as extend its network to 13 cities in China.

Altair is a TD-LTE pioneer, having introduced its first TD-LTE compliant chipset in 2010. Over the last three years, Altair’s dual-mode TD-LTE/FDD-LTE technology has been trialed and qualified on the world’s leading TD-LTE networks, giving Altair a strong foothold in emerging LTE markets such as China, Japan, India, Brazil and Russia.

“We are proud to have been selected alongside our device partners to further extend our years-long TD-LTE collaboration with China Mobile,” said Eran Eshed, Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing with Altair. “China Mobile’s role in growing the TD-LTE ecosystem is pivotal and the extension of the large scale trial into a near-commercial service will greatly benefit Chinese broadband and mobile subscribers.”

Products based on Altair’s technology which have been selected by China Mobile include mobile routers and fixed CPE devices.
