August 31st, 2011 - Clear Mobitel Ltd (www.clearmobitel.com) and the European Television Guild (www.eurotvguild.com) have announced a wide ranging agreement for the streaming of video and media content across future high speed 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile networks that Clear Mobitel will build. The agreement will form a central part of Clear Mobitel’s strategy for the delivery of streamed IP media content across its 4G LTE mobile networks. Clear Mobitel currently has operations in the US, UK, Channel Islands and New Zealand. It has been at the forefront of work on the commercial strategy for the rollout of deep rural broadband to so called slow spots and not spots. The European Television Guild provides video content production, distribution facilities to broadcasters as well as commercial services to the TV and broadcast industry. It also owns titles such as Rapid TV News, Freeband TV News, Freeband Interactive and Freeband IPTV.

Harpal Mann CEO of Clear Mobitel commented, “This agreement with the European Television Guild is vitally important to Clear Mobitel on a global basis, but particularly here in UK. The company has been a visionary in the rollout of future 4G LTE networks in both the urban and rural environment. The world is rapidly going mobile and we believe that IP media content will be a crucially important mobile service offering going forward as revenues from voice and SMS diminish exponentially.

Graham Pitman, Managing Director of the European Television Guild commented, “We are very excited about this agreement with Clear Mobitel. We have been in dialogue with Clear Mobitel for some time now and share their vision for the expansion of IP media content streaming across mobile networks. The advent of LTE as a mature mobile network technology offers new revenue and coverage possibilities to broadcasters and content producers and providers alike. We look forward to working with Clear Mobitel on the development of innovative mobile media content for its LTE networks around the world.”

Clear Mobitel was formed in 2008 by Harpal Mann in the U.S. Since then it has expanded its operations in the UK, Channel Islands and New Zealand. It has been very active in the development of strategies for the deployment of 4G LTE, particularly in relation to the rollout of high speed LTE mobile networks in the rural environment. To that end, Clear Mobitel holds trial licenses for the rollout of LTE test networks in both the 800MHz and 2600MHz bands in the UK. In particular, Clear Mobitel was the first operator to be granted an 800MHz Digital Dividend band licence to conduct such trials in the UK. Clear Mobitel holds full operator licenses in both Jersey and Guernsey. The board is comprised of industry professionals with wide ranging experience of the telecom and Internet industries.
