DOVADO Launches World’s Smallest 4G/LTE capable USB router
Dubai Internet City, UAE / Kista, Sweden – 21st June, 2011 - DOVADO, the supplier of mobile broadband routers, today announced that it has launched the DOVADO TINY, the world’s smallest 4G/LTE capable USB router, measuring only 20mm x 58mm x 87mm. The device is the newest addition to the wide range of DOVADO routers and is designed for use in home, office, vehicle or M2M (Machine-to-Machine) environments. Telenor Sweden will be first operator to sell the new device in late June.
Mobile broadband connectivity for the DOVADO TINY is supplied via USB dongle, allowing subscribers to use their service on the move as well as a fixed broadband replacement. Furthermore it also allows them to upgrade the mobile broadband modem whenever a new model is made available. The DOVADO TINY features an Ethernet LAN port, a WAN port for DSL failover and the latest 802.11n WLAN standard.
One of the strongest features of the DOVADO TINY is its high throughput 4G/LTE capabilities with support of up to 65 Mbps. It also has the industry-unique ability to re-power the inserted USB modem in order to prolong the uptime of the Internet connection. In all, it supports over 140 different USB modems currently offered worldwide, with nearly two dozen models capable of 21Mbps or 42Mbps using 3G networks as well as 4G/LTE.
“The DOVADO TINY allows mobile operators to offer a superior broadband experience at a lower cost than the bulk of fixed alternatives and with the smallest product footprint available anywhere. LTE USB dongles offer speed and mobility, which together with DOVADO TINY, can meet the needs of a whole family” said Thomas Axaeus, CEO of DOVADO. “The TINY changes everything by bringing the power and flexibility of a home router to the whole family – and in a literally tiny package. The era of consumers being tied to a fixed line provider for their broadband needs is over.”
Not only is the DOVADO TINY a very price-competitive product which fills the gap between USB modems and local area network routers, it is also simple to configure and resilient both in its stability and performance. It retains its connection around-the-clock using the DOVADO Connection TrackerTM which is able to automatically reset the USB modem where necessary. SMS notifications can also be sent from the router when usage limits are close to being exceeded or during periods of mobile broadband downtime. It can also be remotely controlled by SMS commands from a whitelisted mobile phone. Firmware updates are available for free from DOVADO or mobile operator websites, and include support for new USB modems, enhancements and exciting eye-catching new features.
DOVADO currently supplies cellular enabled residential routers to mobile operators in Scandinavia. It first started introducing routers that support mobile broadband modems for 3G and 2G networks to the market in 2006. Its first 4G/LTE models were launched in 2011 and are already being used widely in commercial deployments. For further information on the DOVADO TINY, visit www.dovado.com/TINY
