Jan. 27, 2011 - Epitiro today announces the release of the world’s first mobile handset application for testing LTE networks.

The LTE Test App is a scalable, easy-to-deploy means for mobile network operators and regulators to analyse IP performance nation-wide.

Available for Android handsets and available through the Android App store to dedicated test phones for quality of service testing; or to thousands of subscriber smartphones for nation-wide testing and analysis.

The flexibility of testing from an LTE handset enables operators and regulators to measure specific situations such as in-building, in-motion (rail or car), city centres or virtually anywhere subscribers roam.

Epitiro's LTE Test App can be deployed instantly on LTE-enabled smartphones and tablet devices from vendors such as Motorola, HTC, ACER and Cisco.

The application tests several network parameters including throughput, Jitter, packet loss and latency; as well as the quality of applications including web browsing, VoIP and video streaming. Radio parameters, including 3G/4G bearers and signal quality, are recorded.

Test data are presented in real-time on the ipQ Mobile Broadband Analysis platform, an on-line dashboard, where it is analysed and plotted on geo-spatial maps - with GPS accuracy.

Network managers, capacity planners, customer experience managers and marketers benefit from the data, which can be sourced from across an operator’s network as well as its competitors for benchmarking purposes.
