Huawei Unveils New LTE TDD Small Cell Micro Solution to Realize HetNet Deployment
Shanghai, China, July 15 2013: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, recently released an LTE TDD small cell micro solution for HetNet at the 2013 Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai. The solution alleviates costly network traffic congestion by offloading excess hotspot traffic in macro cells and providing better coverage in blind spot and weak coverage areas. It also helps accelerate overall LTE network deployment and provides end users with a better mobile broadband experience.
Huawei’s small cell solution for LTE TDD feature micro BTS that are compact in size with a highly integrated design (dimensions measuring only 6 L). They also feature high power output (coverage of over 100 meters), flexible deployment (mountable on walls, poles and other “zero site space” locations) and easy operation and maintenance for installation in residential and hotspot areas.
Each micro BTS also features a flexible transmission mode to more easily leverage existing transmission resources, and an innovative dock design that supports multiple types of both wired and wireless backhaul to provide 100 Mb/s levels of broadband connectivity.
All of Huawei’s small cell solutions support the company’s SingleSON solution for macro-micro cell coordination, network self-planning and self-configuration. LTE-A features like eICIC (Enhanced Inter-Cell Interference Coordination) for eliminating inter-cell interference are also supported.
Deng Taihua, President of TDD Networks at Huawei, said: “Huawei provides LTE TDD Small Cell Micro solution with global operators from an end-to-end perspective for building a prosperous and future-proof HetNet network. We remain committed to providing innovative solutions for comprehensive mobile broadband network deployments that open the way for continuing in business success.”
Huawei’s small cell micro solution for LTE TDD is a part of the company’s SoftMobile suite of solutions that builds upon the successful foundation of SingleRAN amid industry movement away from voice-and-text, pure-pipe services to an era of data diversity and new vertical market revenue streams. SoftMobile provides ocean-like broadband, orchestration and on-demand network features to leverage the creation of new MBB business models.
