Jasper Wireless Deploys Tekelec’s Policy Server to Enable Global Machine-to-Machine Services
MORRISVILLE, N.C. — January 30, 2013 — Jasper Wireless, the leading connected devices platform for machine-to-machine (M2M) and consumer electronics, is deploying Tekelec’s Policy Server (PCRF) to provide the scalability and flexibility M2M services require. Industry analyst and consulting firm Analysys Mason estimated that there were 100.4 million connected devices at the end of 2011, with the number rising to 2.1 billion by 2021.
Tekelec’s PCRF sets rules governing when devices transmit information to minimize congestion and maximize capacity over 3G and LTE networks. It can apply different qualities of service to different machines and implement flexible service plans based on transactions, connections, time of day, location, applications, or data usage.
"Jasper Wireless is the leading partner for mobile operators around the world to manage their M2M and connected device services,” said Daniel Collins, CTO at Jasper Wireless. "As a result, our operator partners rely on us for best-in-class solutions and that’s a big reason why we selected Tekelec. Jasper Wireless’ highly configurable solution offers automation of operational processes, including custom device provisioning, instant activation, real-time diagnostic tools and detailed billing and usage reports, to ensure customers benefit from an enhanced user experience.”
"Jasper’s services are helping mobile operators capitalize on an M2M revenue opportunity that will grow to nearly $1.2 trillion by 2020 according to the GSMA,” said Doug Suriano, CTO of Tekelec. "Tekelec’s Policy Server will ensure that Jasper can scale its deployment of connected devices and services quickly and profitably.”
