JDSU Participates in Voice over LTE Trials
Milpitas, Calif., September 22, 2011 - JDSU today announced that it is participating in an industry Voice over LTE (VoLTE) interoperability trial, providing its communications test expertise. The MultiService Forum (MSF) Interoperability Event, organized in partnership with the GSMA, is taking place at the China Mobile Research Institute in Beijing and Vodafone Test and Innovation Center in Dusseldorf, Germany from September 12-30, 2011.
“JDSU’s LTE test expertise will demonstrate the level of interoperability between network equipment manufacturers to support service quality of voice calls over LTE networks,” said William Vink, solution engineer at JDSU and Technical Committee co-Vice Chairperson of the MSF.
JDSU’s Signaling Analyzer Real Time (SART) solution is being used to test the performance of Voice over LTE under a number of scenarios, including roaming and interconnect, self-organizing networks, and handover and relocation. JDSU is among 25 companies taking part in the event. The MSF will release the results of the VoLTE Interoperability test event in a white paper in November 2011.
“The MSF VoLTE Interoperability event reflects the MSF’s commitment to carrier-driven interoperability events that validate key emerging standards and technologies, including key network interfaces that ensure multi-vendor deployment strategies for LTE/EPC/IMS technology,” said Kyu-Ouk Lee, MSF President. ”We are delighted that JDSU is participating at the 2011 event.”
JDSU was the only communications test and measurement company providing end-to-end monitoring results at MSF’s Global LTE interoperability event in March 2010.
About VoLTE IOT Event 2011
The MSF will host the VoLTE IOT 2011 Event in the Vodafone Centre for Test and Innovation in Dusseldorf and the China Mobile Research Institute Lab in Beijing in September 2011. The event is backed by the GSMA following the launch of its global VoLTE initiative in 2010, which is supported by more than 40 leading organisations in the mobile space. The event builds on the major success of the previous Global MSF LTE Interoperability Event that took place during March 2010 and reflects the industry’s drive to continue to deliver major carrier driven events that benefit all its members in their quest to keep pace with an ever faster moving industry. The MSF VoLTE Interoperability test event will focus on validating core network interfaces to ensure multi-vendor deployment strategies for LTE technology and will validate the MSF physical scenarios developed to incorporate 3GPP LTE/EPC technology and the GSMA’s technical recommendations, focusing on Voice over LTE, with the support of China Mobile and Vodafone. http://www.msforum.org/interoperability/VoLTE.shtml
