Lemko Corps Commercial 4G LTE Solution Launches Telecom Service With First Commercial LTE Phone Call In The South Pacific For Kiribati Limited (TSKL) With Partner Challenge Networks
ITASCA, Ill. – September 4, 2013 – Lemko Corporation and Partner Challenge Networks have deployed a commercial mobile broadband solution enabling the first LTE phone call for the Telecom Service Kiribati Limited (TSKL), a 22 island nation located in the central Pacific Ocean.
Lemko’s solution solves complex issues of remoteness by eliminating backhaul to a central or hosted core. This will uniquely position the Republic of Kiribati to offer richly featured, high quality services like IPTV at a price point that meets their needs.
“It’s a privilege to have worked with TSKL and Lemko in deploying this revolutionary network in what is perhaps one of the most technically challenging locations in the world for mobile technology. The highly distributed nature of the population coupled with the technical and commercial difficulties of only having satellite backhaul have made this a very exciting and successful project,” says Simon Lardner, Managing Director at Challenge Networks.
Lemko utilizes some of the most innovative and cutting edge LTE functionality in mobile solutions including the use of LTE over satellite, meshed satellite networks and a distributed and virtualized EPC mobile core. Lemko’s LTE- Over-Satellite is proven in its ability to overcome traditional mobile network barriers so countries like Kiribati can have connectivity to every island, each other, and to the rest of the world via satellite.
“Lemko’s technology solution has radically changed the economics of deploying 3G/4G networks. Lemko’s LTE software with its virtualized EPC along with subscriber policy builder and orchestrator, subscriber manager and virtualized charging server enables service providers to rapidly create and personalize services at an individual subscriber level. This has created a disruptive price point for operating carrier grade LTE networks,” says Bo Pyskir, President and COO, Lemko Corporation.
