Barcelona, SPAIN – Mobile World Congress – February 14, 2010 – Movial, the company that inspires rich and intuitive Internet experiences and member of the GSMA’s Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) initiative, today announced the immediate availability of its Movial Communicator LTE-ready Adaptive Video Calling end-user application. Adaptive Video Calling is ground breaking technology that is both “smart and beautiful” -- enabling carriers and equipment vendors to launch Video Calling services that intuitively provide the best possible call quality based on end user bandwidth, CPU speed, camera and screen resolution intelligence.
When making video calls over IP, changing environmental factors determine the quality of the service. To date, these factors haven’t been taken into account at the set up of a video call and during the time a video call is being made. Movial Communicator with Adaptive Video Technology is able to detect each end user’s bandwidth, CPU, camera and screen resolution in order to optimize the quality of the video, presenting a crystal clear, beautiful user experience each and every time a video call is made. While in call, Movial Communicator continuously determines if the current video profile is still providing the best possible video performance, and will automatically re-adjust in case there is a sudden reduction in bandwidth.
In addition to the new Adaptive Video Technology, Movial’s Communicator client now features an unmatched user experience and beautiful, intuitive design with transparent in-call menus, animated transitions, an adaptive UI based on video resolution, while providing end users with a range of controls over their video calls. It also allows operators to provide dynamic advertisements during call setup.
Movial Communicator Adaptive Video Technology is optimized for LTE and pre-LTE networks. It supports features such as HD Voice and Video calls, Presence, network-based address book, SMS/MMS, File Transfer, and rich conferencing. For select customers, Movial Communicator is also enabled with LTE based QoS statistics, allowing them to optimize their network for voice and video services.
“Movial Communicator Adaptive Video Technology is the answer to smart, beautiful video calling, solving the problem of non-optimised video calls and removing the barrier to adoption by users who have been left less than impressed with a poor quality video calling experience,” said Victor Donselaar, CEO Movial Applications. “Operators can immediately take advantage of our new technology to deliver the best possible video services, increase incremental revenues and optimize their LTE networks already this year.”
Movial is a globally recognized client software pioneer in multimedia telephony on PC, smartphones and media devices. Movial Communicator is available on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, MMTel, Symbian, and set-top-boxes. Movial Communicator client software is proven in more than 30 operator customers and is already deployed in several LTE networks on three continents. It fully supports VoLTE, MMTel, RCS, and GSMA standards.
