Oceus Networks Launches New 4G Broadband Solutions at DoDIIS 2011

in press-release, Oceus Networks, 4G, LTE

RESTON, Va. — May 2, 2011 — Oceus Networks Inc., a leading provider of broadband solutions to government agencies, today announced the availability of a new fourth-generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) family of fully interoperable solutions that enable high-speed, high-capacity voice, video and data transmissions for military personnel and first responders. Ruggedized for extreme environments and situations, Xiphos systems provide turnkey, easily deployable broadband networks wherever traditional communication infrastructures are unavailable or compromised.

The Xiphos platform was announced and displayed at the 2011 Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems (DoDIIS) Worldwide Conference in Detroit, Michigan at Oceus Networks’ booth #266.

Xiphos is a COTS-based family of solutions that dynamically delivers 4G broadband to enable many networked applications in demand by “edge”-positioned personnel, including high-definition video, massive voice and data delivery, embedded standards-based interoperable cellular functionality and other connectivity crucial to mission-critical operations. Designed to overlay existing government networking infrastructures, Xiphos networks are made to meet advanced communications needs no matter how advanced the required capability or how isolated the surrounding terrain.

The Xiphos solution can also scale within any agency's architecture, from a compact configuration that provides high data throughput to a few targeted users within a defined coverage area, to high capacity macro configurations that serve a large number of users with a wide coverage area and extremely high data rates. This is done simply by adding more radio units and/or by linking together a number of Xiphos systems. All systems interoperate with full mobility functionality and embedded priority and preemption capabilities. The Xiphos offerings are an extension of Oceus Networks’ mission to provide its customers with standards-based situational awareness and collaboration solutions to make fast and accurate decisions in the field.

“The new Xiphos broadband platform fills a critical communications need for the military, first responders and others where access to fast, mobile connectivity can literally change lives,” said Doug Smith, president and chief executive officer at Oceus Networks. “With government agencies increasing their deployment of commercial broadband solutions, we are proud that Oceus Networks’ new product release provides a highly sought after but rare resource – 4G broadband anytime, anywhere.” Oceus Networks, a wholly-owned U.S. business, was created on January 1, 2011 when Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) completed the sale of Ericsson Federal Inc. to Tailwind Capital. Oceus Networks integrates the latest communications solutions from leading technology companies to address customer requirements, and serves as Ericsson’s exclusive channel to the U.S. federal government, offering Ericsson’s full slate of industry leading commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology and support services. Xiphos is a trademark of Oceus Networks Inc.
