Radisys and Polaris Networks successfully complete IOT; Radisys selects Polaris Networks’ LTE EPC Emulators to Test its LTE Small Cell Solution
Lexington, Massachusetts, October 29, 2012 - Polaris Networks, a global solutions provider for wireless technologies, announced today that Radisys®, a leading provider of embedded wireless infrastructure solutions, has selected the Polaris LTE EPC Emulators to test the Radisys small cell solution for functionality and performance.
Radisys’ Trillium® TOTALeNodeB™ is the next generation Trillium LTE small cell solution that delivers an integrated small cell software implementation which is deployable off-the-shelf. Trillium TOTALeNodeB is an award-winning solution and has been adopted by many base station vendors for their small cell development.
The EPC Emulators from Polaris Networks provide comprehensive means of testing LTE eNodeB protocol stack software. The Emulator tools are capable of characterizing live network traffic conditions in a lab environment. This is especially useful when LTE equipment needs to be validated for both functional and performance requirements before it is deployed in live LTE networks. The Polaris EPC Emulator can be used with test and commercial UEs from all major vendors.
The two companies engaged in an extensive interoperability test between Radisys’ Trillium TOTALeNodeB LTE Small Cell software and Polaris’ LTE EPC Emulator. The purpose of this IOT was to verify connections between the Radisys eNodeB and Polaris EPC and validate eNodeB functions on the S1 interfaces. After the successful completion of the IOT, Radisys decided to adopt the Polaris Emulators for its in-house lab testing of the Trillium eNodeB software. Radisys is using the EPC Emulator to simulate live network scenarios in its lab based on the network operations that are being reported by Radisys’ customers from field testing of LTE small cells.
“It was important to us as we deploy our Trillium TOTALeNodeB software around the world that we continue to choose best-of-breed partners that complement our leadership in LTE,” said Todd Mersch, Product Line Management Director, Radisys. “This partnership is a great example of two companies working together to deliver a compelling LTE small cell solution. By leveraging Polaris Networks’ test solution to recreate our customers’ network environments, we can ensure that we are delivering the functionality and performance that they need.”
“We view this partnership between Radisys and Polaris Networks, apart from helping the two companies, as delivering great value to manufacturers of LTE small cells as well as operators that have either decided or are considering deploying small cells in their LTE networks. Through this association, vendors and operators are not only guaranteed a solution that has passed through extensive functional and performance tests, but get the assurance of using a small cell solution that is most likely to work when their LTE networks are switched-on,” said Aditya Saraf, VP, Sales & Marketing at Polaris Networks.
Polaris Networks will be exhibiting the EPC emulators and other LTE solutions at its booth #323 at 4G World in Chicago from October 29 to November 1, 2012.
