Transmode selected by LTE operator Net4mobility for Swedish optical network

in press-release, LTE

Stockholm, Sweden – 8th December 2010 – Transmode, a leading supplier of optical networking solutions, today announced that Sweden’s Net4Mobility has chosen Transmode to support the construction of a national high capacity next generation optical network delivering LTE services.

Net4Mobility is a network joint venture between two major carriers - Tele2 and Telenor - that will operate full 4G/LTE services across Sweden. Transmode’s optical products are being deployed to help meet the increasing demand for mobile bandwidth from the rapid expansion of bandwidth hungry devices that depend on 4G/LTE Services.

Transmode’s products are an ideal fit to provide key elements of the new network. Selection of the suppliers for this development was determined by the cost of meeting the rising demand for mobile-broadband services and the evolution of mobile backhaul networks towards fiber to the cell site architectures. Transmode demonstrated that it understood Net4Mobility’s need for reliability, flexibility and scalability in the provisioning of 4G/LTE networks.

The optical network elements supplied to Net4Mobility by Transmode will help deliver both the capacity and the flexibility needed in Net4Mobility’s network, which is intended to be the most competitive infrastructure for 4G services. The Transmode equipment will be integrated seamlessly with systems from various international telecoms suppliers, showing its flexibility and versatility in complex, large-scale national projects.

Björn Andersson, Transmode's VP Sales, commented, “We are delighted to have been selected by Net4Mobility for this new network rollout, which we believe is the world’s first LTE network where two operators share the same infrastructure to reduce costs. This deal reflects the trust and partnership Transmode has established with Net4Mobility and its owners.”
