TranSwitch’s Voice-Over-LTE Solution Powers coM.sat’s New Wireless LTE Gateway

SHELTON, Conn.– March 07, 2012 – TranSwitch Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions in the rapidly growing consumer electronics and telecommunications markets, today announced that its Atlanta 2000™ LTE Gateway Reference Design has been selected by coM.sat GmbH Kommunikationssysteme for the coM.sat 2012 LTE.  The 2012 LTE Enterprise Gateway provides a complete 3G and 4G IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) convergence solution, including flexible and redundant routing for ISDN / Analog / GSM / 3G and LTE for voice and data.

According to the Long Term Evolution (LTE) global forecasts from Wireless Intelligence, there were 10 million LTE connections in over 50 live LTE networks, across 30 countries globally in 2011. This market is forecasted to grow to 500 million LTE connections in over 200 live LTE networks across more than 70 countries by 2016. For efficiency and improved quality of service, most of these operators plan to offer VoLTE services in addition to high-speed internet access. VoLTE compatible networks and devices are expected to be launched by 2013.
