  • Paris and Tokyo, May 28, 2012 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) announced that it has been selected by NTT DOCOMO, INC. to build NTT DOCOMO’s Internet protocol (IP) network supporting its LTE services with Alcatel-Lucent’s7750 Service Routers which are key elements of its IP routing portfolio.

  • Magyar Telekom's T-Mobile unit plans to extend the LTE service coverage to suburban parts of Budapest and several country towns this summer. According to the operator, currently it's 4G LTE service is available outdoors for 90% of the population in Budapest and indoors for 73%.

  • MUMBAI, 24th May 2012: Reliance Communications Limited (RCOM), India’s fully integrated telecommunications service provider, has been awarded the Global Excellence in Business Innovation award for its 3G Video Delivery Platform by TM Forum.

  • Bharti Airtel and Qualcomm have signed an agreement for Bharti to acquire an interest in Qualcomm Asia Pacific’s Indian venture. Qualcomm holds BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala.

  • ZTE has signed an LTE network expansion contract with Hong Kong's mobile operator CSL. As part of the contract, ZTE will provide an extensive network of new base stations for CSL. In addition, ZTE will deploy its newest Uni-RAN-based, LTE-A-scalable R8884 base station for the first time.

  • Namibia’s network operator Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has commercially launched its LTE network. According to MTC, it has significant LTE coverage in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia and expects to cover the whole of Windhoek with 4G LTE by the end of July 2012 .  

  • Verizon Wireless' LTE network is now available in 28 new markets and operator has expanded the network in 11 additional markets today. According to Verizon, with the new and expanded markets, Its LTE network is available in 258 markets across the United States, covering more than two-thirds of the U.S. population.

  • Russian operator Yota (Scartel) has switched on commercial LTE network in Moscow last week. At the same time operator switched off WiMax network in capital, reports RIA Novosti.

    Operator also launched its LTE network in Sochi in same week. Yota now plans to activate LTE network in Samara on May 23.

  • Morrisville, NC (Tuesday, May 15, 2012) - Tekelec, the mobile broadband solutions company, will present its vision of the New Diameter Network in multiple individual and panel presentations at the LTE World Summit 2012, May 22-24 in Barcelona.

  • Alcatel-Lucent and Cassidian, an EADS company, have launched a new solution called ‘Evercor’ to enhance safety and operations for public safety agencies, energy and transport companies. According to Alcatel-Lucent, it enables the use of video, data and other media to improve the way the security professionals serve and protect their communities.

  • Telecom New Zealand will be conducting live customer trials of LTE technology later this year in preparation for the evolution of its XT network to 4G. Operator is currently conducting a technology selection process, with the aim to have the trial service operational with selected business and consumer customers before the end of 2012
