  • Wireless operator Taiwan Mobile has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks to roll-out of its multi-band LTE network. NSN will also deploy LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation technology to increase bandwidth and network performance by combining the 700 MHz and 1800 MHz spectrum bands.

  • U.S. carrier Sprint has announced 20 new 4G LTE markets. Operator expects to cover 250 million people with 4G LTE by mid-year. Sprint today also announced Sprint Spark in Provo, Utah, and Trenton, N.J, as well as the upcoming availability of HD Voice.

  • U.S. carrier T-Mobile is now kicking off a major new program to upgrade its 2G/EDGE network with 4G LTE. The company plans to complete 50 percent of the work this year alone, and expects the program to be substantially complete by the middle of next year.

  • UK’s EE plans to offer customers access to 4G LTE in France and Spain. The deals are the first of a series of outbound roaming agreements that will allow EE customers to get 4G speeds outside of UK. EE's 4G coverage currently reaches over 70% of the UK population.

  • AT&T and Audi of America have announced data plans for the new 2015 A3 sedan to provide in-vehicle 4G LTE data connectivity.  The data plans start at $99 for a 6-month plan with 5 Gigabytes of data and $499 for a 30-month plan  with 30 GB.

  • 4G Americas has announced that LTE subscriptions passed 200 million mark worldwide in December 2013. North America accounts around 50% of this. In North America and Latin America, LTE & HSPA subscriptions grew to 417 million connections in one year ending December 2013.

  • Lithuanian mobile operator Omnitel has opened LTE network for smartphones in the city of Vilnius. LTE services are now available to customers with HTC, Nokia, Sony and Blackberry 4G smart phones.

  • Armenian operator VivaCell-MTS has commercially launched LTE service in most part of Yerevan, as well as in Gyumri, Vanadzor, Dilijan and Tsakhkadzor. Introduced in December 2010, the 4G/LTE network till recently was only covering the business center of Yerevan.
