  • Kyrgyzstan's mobile operator O! has launched LTE network in the country. According to operator, LTE service is available with data rates up to 75 Mbps in all areas of capital city Bishkek. 

  • Espoo, Finland – Nokia announced today that the company and NTT DOCOMO INC. have agreed to collaborate on research and standardization of 5G technologies and to work jointly on a 5G proof of concept (PoC) system.

  • Tokyo, May 8, 2014 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) has reached an agreement with NTT DOCOMO, INC. (NTT DOCOMO) to jointly conduct trials aimed at the practical use of technologies for a 5th-generation mobile communication standard (5G).

  • Japanese carrier NTT DOCOMO plans to conduct experimental trials of emerging 5G mobile communications technologies with six mobile technology vendors: Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Fujitsu, NEC, Nokia and Samsung.

  • South Korea's SK Telecom has started expanding installation of base stations to use 10MHz bandwidth from 2.1GHz band for LTE from May 7 in certain areas in Seoul, Gwangju and Busan. The company already built an LTE test-bed for 2.1GHz band in Busan last February.

  • Milpitas, Calif, May 7, 2014 - Kineto Wireless, Inc., a key innovator and supplier of telco-OTT solutions to the mobile industry, today announced that it has added a suite of Smart Calling services to its downloadable Smart Comms smartphone application for mobile operators.

  • T-Mobile Czech Republic plans to cover 93 percent of the population and 80% of the territory with 3G and LTE networks by the end of the year. Operator's LTE network operator will cover 51% of the population and 73% of the area by end of 2014. 

  • Richardson, TX – May 5, 2014 - Mavenir Systems, a leading provider of software-based mobile communications solutions, today announced the general availability of its mobile voice and messaging client software for handsets and tablets.

  • ZTE announced that the company won a major mobile network contract from Cambodia's mobile operator Sotelco. ZTE’s wireless solutions will be deployed in Sotelco’s networks for 2G, 3G and 4G services. 

  • Algerian telecom operator, Algerie Telecom has officially launched LTE service in the country. Operator aims to deploy eNodeB 2000 sites in late 2015. In the first phase of deployment, Algerie Telecom  has deployed eNodeB 200 sites spread over 48 provinces. 

  • ABU DHABI, UAE – April 30, 2014 – Lightbridge Communications Corporation (LCC), a global leader in advanced wireless, wire-line voice and data turnkey services announced today that it has been awarded implementation of a network modernization project by a leading OEM vendor for a tier 1 telecom operator in the United Arab Emirates.

  • Telecom New Zealand plans to begin trial of LTE network over APT700 MHz spectrum next month. The upcoming trial will be conducted in conjunction with Huawei Technologies over 11 cell sites spread across three Waikato locations including central Hamilton and the Mystery Creek Events Centre. 

  • US operator Sprint has added 4G LTE service in 41 more new cities. With this expansion, Sprint' LTE network now covers more than 225 million people and remains on track to cover 250 million by mid-year. 

  • U.S. carrier AT&T plans to launch a 4G LTE-based in-flight connectivity service for airlines and passengers in commercial, business and general aviation.

  • Huawei has announced the successful completion of a LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) Category 6 connectivity test with download speeds reaching up to 300 Mbps. This test was jointly completed with Qualcomm Technologies.
