  • Switzerland's telecom service provider Swisscom has accelerated the expansion and announced that more than one in three Swiss people currently have LTE reception. 

  • Cisco plans to acquire U.K. based Ubiquisys, a provider of 3G and 4G LTE small-cell technologies. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will pay approximately $310 million in cash and retention-based incentives to acquire the entire business and operations of Ubiquisys.

  • UK operator EE has launched LTE network in 13 new towns and cities across the country, bringing the total number of towns and cities with 4G LTE coverage to 50, just five months after the launch of the service.

  • AT&T continues to expand its LTE service coverage and recently launched LTE network in Harrison, AR; Watertown, NY and Hilton Head-Bluffton, SC. AT&T LTE coverage has also expanded in parts of Gary, Ind.; Tampa, Fla.; and Philadelphia, Pa. With this expansion AT&T's LTE network is now live in 161 markets.

  • U.S. carrier T-Mobile has launched its 4G LTE network in seven major metropolitan areas, including Baltimore; Houston; Kansas City; Las Vegas; Phoenix; San Jose, Calif.; and Washington, D.C.  Operator expects its 4G LTE network to reach 100 million Americans by midyear and 200 million by the end of 2013.

  • ZTE has completed commercial ground-air FDD-LTE-based broadband network test in cooperation with Hainan Airlines, company announced today. The test occurred in February 2013 on Hainan Airlines Flight HU7137 Beijing to Xi’an. Internet connectivity was available for 70 minutes of the two-hour flight.

  • South Africa's Mobile service provider Vodacom has started to offer LTE services to all its customers.  Operator launched commercial LTE services in South Africa in October 2012.

  • Huawei has announced the release LTE small cell router ATN 905. The ATN 905 helps small base stations obtain high-rate media access across a variety of scenarios, allowing operators to extend their backhaul network coverage.
