T-Mobile Launches LTE Network, to Sell iPhone 5 in April
U.S. carrier T-Mobile has launched its 4G LTE network in seven major metropolitan areas, including Baltimore; Houston; Kansas City; Las Vegas; Phoenix; San Jose, Calif.; and Washington, D.C. Operator expects its 4G LTE network to reach 100 million Americans by midyear and 200 million by the end of 2013.
T-Mobile also begins offering the iPhone 5 on Friday, April 12. T-Mobile announced today that qualifying customers can get an iPhone 5 for $99.99 down, plus monthly payments. T-Mobile will also offer iPhone 5 with no annual service contract plus unlimited talk, text and Web.
T-Mobile’s new Simple Choice Plan starts with a base rate of $50 per month for unlimited talk, text and Web with 500MB of 4G data.3 Consumers can add 2GB of 4G data for $10 per month per line or get unlimited 4G data for an additional $20 per month per line. Customers can add a second phone line for $30 per month, and each additional line is just $10 per month. There are no caps and no overages.
Along with its 4G LTE network debut, T-Mobile also announced that it will have several 4G LTE-capable devices available, including Samsung Galaxy S 4, BlackBerry Z10, HTC One, T-Mobile Sonic 2.0 Mobile HotSpot LTE and Samsung Galaxy Note II. Galaxy S 4 will be available in the second quarter of this year. BlackBerry® Z10 is available for qualifying customers for $99.99 down with 24 equal monthly payments of $18. HTC One will be available later this spring. The T-Mobile Sonic 2.0 Mobile HotSpot LTE is available for $29.99 down with 24 equal monthly payments of $5.
