  • US carrier New Core Wireless, in partnership with select rural wireless operators, has selected Ericsson to supply and implement its 4G/LTE network.  Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will supply New Core Wireless its Evolved Packet Core LTE solution, along with its LTE radio network to New Core Wireless’ partners. 

  • Malaysia's communications service provider Maxis Berhad is ready to launch 4G LTE service following the allocation of the 2600 MHz spectrum band for 4G LTE by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on 5 December 2012.

  • UK regulator Ofcom today started 4G Auction Process by taking the application from the potential bidders along with an initial deposit of £100,000. All applications will be reviewed by Ofcom to check that the applicants are qualified to take part in the auction. 

  • AT&T has launched its 4G LTE service in Auburn-Opelika, Ala.; Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; Grand Rapids, Mich. and Nashua, NH. With this expansion, AT&T LTE network is now live in 113 markets.

Alcatel-Lucent will enhance the speed and capacity of existing critical communications infrastructure for Rio Tinto in Western Australia, extending it further with LTE and fibre-optic technologies.

  • Telecom New Zealand will begin 4G LTE trial in parts of Wellington and Auckland from Friday this week. The Auckland trial will take place in parts of the North Shore on the 2600MHz spectrum and will be conducted by Huawei. Alcatel-Lucent will run the trial in the Lower Hutt area of Wellington, also on the 2600MHz spectrum.
