  • 3G and LTE small cells maker Ubiquisys has raised $19m in an oversubscribed round. The company will use the capital to generate further profitable growth and accelerate delivery of innovative tri-mode 3G/LTE/WiFi small cell hotspots. 

  • LG Electronics (LG) has sold five million LTE smartphones globaly to date, company announced today. After reaching sales of four million LTE smartphones last month, an additional one million smartphones were sold in the month of July, company revealed.

  • Cambridge, Aug 14th 2012: ip.access today confirmed that it had already shipped an LTE-only version of its new E-100 dual mode access point to five customers for laboratory and field trials. This is an important staging point in the process of moving towards full commercial deployments and represents the company’s first LTE product shipments.

  • Sprint has announced availability of Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE starting from Sunday, Aug. 19. Motorola PHOTON Q, with a full QWERTY keyboard and international roaming capabilities, will cost $199.99 with a new line of service or eligible upgrade and two-year service agreement.

  • Portuguese mobile operator Optimus has selected Huawei to provide UMTS/LTE multi-frequency antennas for its LTE commercial network, the company announced today. The commercialization of Huawei's antennas in Portugal extends the current mobile network portfolio.

  • Poland's operators Polkomtel and Aero2 have selected Ericsson to supply WCDMA and LTE infrastructure for their network. Under the agreement, Ericsson will also provide a range of services including design, deployment, integration and support for the upgraded mobile broadband network for a period of three years.
