A new report says that that Britain will see significant economic and social benefits from the introduction of 4G LTE mobile broadband.  Research is commissioned by Everything Everywhere and released from Capital Economics.

The research says that with 4G LTE, mobile networks has the potential to add 0.5% (equivalent to £75bn) to UK GDP by the end of the decade, unlock £5.5 billion of direct private investment into the UK economy by 2015 and create or safeguard 125,000 jobs. In addition it will also provide access to mobile superfast broadband to at least 10 million people who won’t be able to get fixed line superfast broadband by end of the decade

"This research highlights the significant economic and social benefits that 4G will bring to the UK – already enjoyed in over 30 countries around the world," said Olaf Swantee, CEO of Everything Everywhere.

Last month, Ofcom announced that 4G LTE mobile services could be available in the UK as early as this year. UK operator Everything Everywhere has already submitted an application to Ofcom to use its existing spectrum to deliver 4G services. Everything Everywhere has planned LTE trials over 1800MHz in Bristol from April.
