GSA: WB-AMR HD Voice Service Launched on 45 Networks

Amid recent announcements of support of HD Voice over LTE networks, Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) has confirmed the launch of HD Voice in 35 countries on 45 GSM, 3G/HSPA, LTE networks.

HD Voice is based on the WB-AMR (Wideband Adaptive Multi Rate) technology and enables high-quality voice calls in mobile networks and an improved user experience. It can be implemented in GSM, WCDMA-UMTS, and LTE networks. 

According to new report, commercially HD Voice is now available in 35 countries and territories: Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong S.A.R., India, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mauritius, Moldova, The Netherlands, Poland, Réunion, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Uganda, and UK.

GSA further adds that more than 80 HD Voice enabled mobile phones are launched by many leading manufacturers, including products for professional broadcasters. Many new phone models are delivered with HD Voice (W-AMR) activated as default.

South Korean operators SK Telecom & LG U+ and US operator MetroPCS have already announced commercial VoLTE  services last month.
