WiMAX, 3G, HSPA+ Data Test Results are out
As Sprint launches America's first 4G phone today (see my prvious blog What to expect from Sprint HTC Evo 4G? for details), PC Magazine has come out with very detailed analysis of data throughput.
PCMag.com took a snapshot of America's mobile networks across 18 cities and reports approximately 1,000 rounds of tests (totaling more than 10,000 individual tests)
Overall AT&T has good performance thanks to its HSPA 7.2 3G network. T-Mobile with HSPA+ took honors for Northeast. Sprint 4G was included in test but was not considered for awards as Sprint 4G was not available in all the cities where PCmag tested.
With 2.75Mbps DL and 0.36 Mbps UL, AT&T got National award. T-Mobile is not much behind in DL but in UL it beats every one including Sprint 4G.
Sprint 4G has 3.14Mbps MAX DL speed and does not appear to 4G at all otherwise T-Mobile's claim of 4G is justified and Sprint can not argue with that.
For LTE, lets hope they have better performance when it is launched.
