A 5G testbed in the Dutch province of North Groningen was officially launched today, when an international agreement was signed between the ten partner organisations who initiated the project.

Dutch Radiocommunications Agency has awarded mobile spectrum rights to four operators in the Dutch auction which completed on December 14, 2012. They are Vodafone, KPN, T-Mobile and Tele2. The total revenue generated by the auction is € 3.804 billion.
Telecommunications equipment and network solutions provider, ZTE has signed a packet switched core network (CN) deal with KPN Group Belgium (KPNGB).KPNGB will deploy ZTE’s packet switched CN equipment which supports unified 2G/3G/4G radio access.
