Alcatel-Lucent has opened a dedicated facility in Tokyo designed to give service providers and enterprise customers hands-on experience in the co-creation of new ultra-broadband and cloud-based services and applications. 

Tekelec has been selected by Telefónica UK to provide the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) in the 3G and LTE core networks. The Policy Server will combine with Tekelec’s Subscriber Profile Repository to enable Telefónica UK to offer advanced services for smartphones, tablets and other mobile data devices.

Ofcom has published research into 4G and 3G mobile broadband performance. Overall, 4G networks performed much better than 3G networks in five sample towns and cities tested - Edinburgh, Leeds, London, Newcastle and Poole/Bournemouth - where both 4G and 3G networks have been rolled out.

Sierra Wireless today introduced four new AirPrime embedded modules, to support LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) networks worldwide. The new AirPrime modules are based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE Modem.
