Ericsson and Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories have announced Taiwan's first LTE field trial results.

Nokia Networks is revealing a programmable 5G architecture that overcomes the rigidity of legacy networks. The architecture automatically and dynamically adapts radio access and core network resources to meet the needs of different services, traffic variations over time and location, and network topology, including transport.

Zain Saudi Arabia (Zain KSA) has signed network expansion and upgrade agreements worth US $1.2 billion with five technology companies: Huawei, Nokia, NEC, Cisco, and Alcatel Lucent. The agreements aim to enhance Zain KSA’s customer experience and to improve and expand Zain’s network capacity, coverage and speed.

3GPP has completed 3GPP 5G architecture stage 2 level specifications. With this Release 15 milestone, 3GPP has provided the set of features and functionality needed for deploying a commercially operational 5G system. The delivered specifications are TS 23.501, TS 23.502 and TS 23.503.

Dutch mobile service provider KPN is testing LTE network with newly acquired spectrum and plans a large scale launch of LTE services as soon as February 2013. Operator expects to have covered approximately 50% of the Dutch population by mid-2013 and nationwide coverage in the second half of 2014.

Indian operator Bharti Airtel is likely to launch LTE services in Delhi by September, reports PTI. Operator is already offering LTE services in some other Indian Markets including Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune and Chandigarh.

AT&T has launched its 4G LTE service in new markets in Olean, N.Y.; Greenville and Mansfield, Ohio; and Fredericksburg, Texas. According to AT&T it’s network now covers more than 99% of Americans. AT&T 4G LTE network covers nearly 290 million people and is expected to be essentially complete by this summer.
