Alcatel-Lucent and UAE operator Etisalat have completed a technology trial with Alcatel-Lucent's lightRadio portfolio over a working 4G LTE network. During the trial, Alcatel-Lucent showcased the capabilities of its new 9768 lightRadio Metro Radio Outdoor (MRO) at Etisalat’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, over Etisalat’s commercial 4G LTE network.

The Federal Trade Commission filed a federal court complaint against AT&T Mobility, charging that the company has misled millions of its smartphone customers by charging them for “unlimited” data plans while reducing their data speeds, in some cases by nearly 90 percent.

Alcatel-Lucent and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, along with the Nevada Department of Transportation and other first responders, conducted a six-month trial of a 4G LTE public safety network in a designated section of the city of Las Vegas in the United States.  

Swisscom is provided by Ericsson the Europe's first fully commercial LTE-Advanced three-carrier aggregation solution combining LTE in both FDD and TDD modes. The demonstration used three carriers in two bands in a radio access network and used commercial-grade chipsets.

Nokia has signed an agreement with Japan's mobile operator NTT DOCOMO to supply 5G baseband equipments for aiming to deploy in a 5G mobile network planned to be in commercial service by 2020.

Telcel, a subsidiary of Latin American wireless services provider America Movil has launched commercial LTE network in Mexico. Starting last week, Telcel LTE network has coverage in 30 areas of nine major cities: Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Queretaro, Puebla, Ciudad Juarez, Tijuana, Hermosillo and Merida.
