  • Spanish operator Telefonica plans to roll out a nationwide LTE network in Spain and has selected Ericsson as a technology partner for this network. Ericsson  is selected as vendor for the cities of Madrid and Barcelona, among others.

  • Brussels – Belgium, 5 September 2013: BICS, a global provider of wholesale carrier services, today announced its IPX platform has enabled Rogers, Swisscom and SK Telecom to perform LTE roaming over IPX between countries in Europe, North America and Asia, confirming its role as a leading provider of LTE roaming solutions.

  • Fleet, Hampshire, UK – 6 September, 2013 – Anite, a global leader in wireless equipment testing technology, today announced that it has achieved validation for the most number of LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) Carrier Aggregation (CA) protocol test cases by the PTCRB (a wireless device certification forum led by North American mobile operators)

  • Alcatel-Lucent has signed a contract with Telefónica, to become a reference supplier for its 4G LTE network in Spain, company announced today. Under the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will deploy some 8,000 4G LTE base stations and the 5620 Service Aware Manager (5620 SAM).

  • Broadcom Corporation has entered in to a definitive agreement to acquire LTE-related assets from affiliates of Renesas Electronics Corporation in $164 million. Company expects to accelerate availability of Broadcom's first multimode, carrier-validated LTE SoC platform into early 2014 with this acquisition. 

  • Orange has announced the launch of LTE network in the Principality of Liechtenstein. According to operator, its 4G network currently provides coverage to 91% of the population of the country. 

  • Moscow and London, 30 August 2013 - NEC Corporation today announced a new deal between NEC Neva Communications Systems and Russian mobile operator Scartel (Brand;Yota), which will see LTE microcell base stations used to provide commercial services in Russia for the first time(*1).

  • UK operators Vodafone and O2 have launched their commercial LTE services in country today. Vodafone's LTE network is currently available in London where as O2's LTE network is available in London, Leeds and Bradford. 

  • Philippines’ wireless services provider Smart Communications has recently conducted LTE-Advanced trials in Metro Manila and Davao City. According to operator, Smart's test facilities achieved speeds of up to 209.66 mbps at trials held first in Makati City in cooperation with network equipment provider Huawei Philippines.

  • Russian mobile service provider Scartel has implemented VoLTE (voice over LTE) with SRVCC (Single Radio Voice Call Continuity) using Huawei's solution. Following implementation of the solution, Scartel is now technologically capable of supporting voice calls on its LTE network.

  • Tokyo, Japan, August 27th, 2013 – Airspan Networks Inc., a leading provider of 4G LTE RAN solutions, announced its new AirSynergy 3000 small cell at the GTI 3.5 GHz Ad Hoc Seminar hosted by SoftBank in Tokyo Japan.

  • GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) confirms that 111 manufacturers have announced 1,064 LTE-enabled user devices world-wide, including frequency and carrier variants. Since July 2012, 647 new LTE user devices have been announced. During same period, number of manufacturers is increased by 66%.

  • South Africa’s communications network operator, Neotel has announced the launch of LTE network. Operator's NeoBroadband powered by LTE, is a fixed wireless solution for Small and Medium businesses (SMB) as well as large Enterprises.

  • U.S. operator AT&T has launched LTE network in Ruston, La.; New Bern, N.C.; State College, Pa.; Georgetown, S.C. and Jayuya, P.R. AT&T 4G LTE service also expanded today in Atlanta, Ga.; Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport, La.; Oxford, Miss.; Albany, N.Y.; San Juan and Guayama, P.R.

  • Econet Wireless will launch LTE network during a joint hosting by Zimbabwe and Zambia of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) general assembly. The LTE service will be launched in the resort town of Victoria Falls, where the assembly will be held from August 24 to 29, 2013.
