Verizon's LTE roadmap details out
Intomobile reports that this year Atlanta and Athens, GA will go live with Verizon’s LTE network along with Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth and Weatherford, TX. Additionally, a good chunk of east Massachusetts will be covered with LTE.
In 2011, new markets in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are planned to covered by LTE. More details are available on Intomobile.
FCC has already approved a new LTE USB modem from LG. LG VL600 is approved with support for CDMA EVDO 850/1900MHz and LTE 700MHz and is expected to be available at Verizons's initial LTE launch this year. Verizon is expected to release information on upcoming 4G phones in January. In addition to LG modem one or two 4G data cards will be released this November.
Verizon Wireless is rumored to begin rolling out its LTE network starting on November 15th this year, and is expected to commercially launch its LTE 4G network in 25 to 30 markets in 2010, covering 100 million people.
Verizon has already said that by 2013 the LTE coverage map will match it's current 3G coverage map. Company will likely add LTE coverage in some places that don't have 3G today in 2013. The company will continue doing that in 2014, which is when the carrier is expected to complete the nationwide deployment.
On data plan Verizon Wireless is expected to have data cap for 4G while 3G will be unlimited. Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam have already given indications to move away from unlimited plans altogether for the company's LTE network, instead charging for "buckets" of megabytes.
