China Mobile and Alcatel-Lucent are showing their progress in the development of network functions virtualization (NFV) for mobile operators at Mobile World Congress.

Nokia Solutions and Networks has successfully completed an extensive set of test cases for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in China Mobile’s (CMCC) pre-commercial TD-LTE network in Fuzhou. The trials included NSN’s enhanced Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (eSRVCC) solution for a seamless experience and optimized behavior.

ZTE has announced that company helped China Mobile deploy voice over LTE (VoLTE) services on the operator’s commercial TD-LTE network in Guangzhou.

Alcatel-Lucent has announced that its LTE solution has been selected by China Telecom for the operator’s nationwide trial of LTE network. In addition, China Mobile is also deploying Alcatel-Lucent’s small cells solution in the TD-LTE network.

ZTE has announced completion of end-to-end voice-over TD-LTE (VoTD-LTE) call in partnership with China Mobile and Marvell Technology Group. The VoTD-LTE call was conducted on China Mobile’s network in Guangzhou.

Huawei and China Mobile (CMCC) recently successfully completed Flash CSFB to GSM field test on a live LTE TDD network. According to Huawei, its Flash CSFB solution requires less time to complete end-to-end call setups compared with traditional CSFB and is capable of handovers to GSM and UMTS. 

Ericsson and China Mobile has successfully demonstrated a dual mode HD voice over LTE (VoLTE) call between TD-LTE and LTE FDD based on ST-Ericsson's multimode modem and Renesas Mobile' quad-mode chipsets during the 2013 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

ZTE has announced that it completed the download test using carrier aggregation (CA) technology in a commercial environment in collaboration with Guangdong arm of China Mobile. The test took place in an outdoor TD-LTE network environment.
