Mobile operator Orange Slovakia has chosen the Cisco's ASR 5000 Series elastic evolved packet core for its recently launched 4G long-term evolution (LTE) network. With Cisco solution, Orange Slovakia aims to transform its architecture and seamlessly migrate mobile data traffic from existing 2G and 3G networks.

South Korean operator SK Telecom is launching 'T&T Sharing' plans for both 3G and LTE subscribers starting tomorrow to give customers unlimited intra-network voice calls as well as unlimited intra-network and inter-network texting.

4G Americas has announced that LTE subscriptions passed 200 million mark worldwide in December 2013. North America accounts around 50% of this. In North America and Latin America, LTE & HSPA subscriptions grew to 417 million connections in one year ending December 2013.

Sunrise and Huawei demonstrated  5G performance with download data throughput of 3.28 Gbit/s in the 3.5 GHz (band 42) frequency band at the 5G lab at Sunrise headquarters in Zurich Oerlikon. The operator plans to use the same configuration from 2020.
