  • COTA, a Spanish telecom provider has completed the 4G mobile broadband pilot with TD-LTE technology in Murcia, Spain using Nokia Siemens Networks' solution, ahead of a November launch for commercial services.

  • SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 15, 2012 - Agilent Technologies Inc.   • ZTE has won China Mobile’s TD- LTE contract to construct operator’s TD-LTE network in five Chinese cities, namely Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shenyang, with more than 13,000 carrier frequencies.

  • SoftBank  and Sprint Nextel have entered into an agreement under which SoftBank will invest $20.1 billion to acquire 70% Stake in Sprint. Sprint equity holders will own approximately 30% of the shares of New Sprint.

  • London, 15 October 2012 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) has signed a multiple-year frame contract to supply Polkomtel, one of Poland's leading mobile operators, with its iPASOLINK series in order to rebuild a nationwide mobile access network over the next three years.

  • Sprint's 4G LTE network build is progressing in more than 20 additional cities within its nationwide 3G footprint. Operator plans to announce commercial availability 4G LTE in these cities in the coming months, followed by continued enhancements in coverage, performance and reliability.

  • Vivo, a subsidiary of Telefônica, has selected Ericsson to supply and implement a 4G LTE network in the North and Mid-Western regions of Brazil, as well as the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Bahia and Sergipe.

  • Vodacom has launched commercial LTE services in South Africa. The service is initially available in Johannesburg, with other cities to follow in the near future. The LTE service will initially be accessible via approximately 70 base stations in Johannesburg. 

  • Huawei has announced that it had completed a LTE to GSM CSFB (Circuit Switched Fallback) test to reduce voice setup delays from LTE to GSM network by two seconds, improve handover success rates and provide end users with better voice experience on GSM/LTE networks.

  • Telenor has launched its 4G LTE network in 11 cities and towns in Norway. Company plans to continue to develop the network at a rapid pace to provide 4G coverage to one third of Norway population by the end of the year.

  • Yota has announced introduction of LTE Advanced technology in select LTE base stations in Moscow. According to operator, it will provide data rates up to 300 Mbit/s on the user's devices. Yota had launched commercial LTE network in Moscow earlier this year.
