Vodafone is implementing LTE FDD/TDD carrier aggregation in commercial network in Portugal, anticipating wider terminal availability later this year. This move will allow the operator to combine the best characteristics of LTE FDD and TDD modes. 

​ABI Research estimates that there will be nearly 1.37 billion 4G LTE subscribers globally by year-end 2015, up from nearly 650 million in 2014. The company further forecasts that the LTE subscriber base will exceed 3.5 billion by 2020, demonstrating a 5 year CAGR of 20.8%. 

South Korea's telecom provider KT and Ericsson have agreed to strengthen their collaboration in the 5G evolution and to extend this to the Internet of Things (IoT). According to KT, operator is preparing to preview an innovative 5G communications services at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics.

Ericsson has entered into a contract with Far EasTone, one of the top three Taiwanese telecom operators to become its sole supplier, tasked with expanding and optimizing Far EasTone 4G network.

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has filed suits against Apple in Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. For more than two years Ericsson has been trying to reach an agreement with Apple on a global license for Ericsson's patents on terms that are fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND), but the companies have failed to reach an amicable resolution.

Singapore's operator Singtel has partnered Ericsson to trial LTE Broadcast and voice over Wi-Fi calling. The first trial of video delivery with LTE Broadcast will be at the 28th South East Asian (SEA) Games which will be held in Singapore from 5-16 June 2015. 

Ericsson and Unitel today announced the successful demonstration of the end-to-end LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) Carrier Aggregation (CA) solution capable of supporting data speeds up to 450 Mbps in Africa.

TeliaSonera has renewed and expanded its contract with Ericsson, that was initially signed back in 2010. Ericsson will now perform field operation services for the operator's fixed and mobile networks.
