Airtel Expands LTE Network Coverage in India

Indian operator Bharti Airtel has launched 4G LTE services in Pune. This is third city in the country after Kolkata and Bengaluru to get LTE coverage from Airtel.

Operator recently launched the Ascend P1 LTE smartphone in partnership with Huawei. The Ascend P1 LTE uses Circuit Switched Voice Fall Back (CSFB) technology to support voice calls over 3G. The smartphone featurse 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB storage, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display with Gorilla Glass 2, and 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash.

In 2010, Airtel won BWA license spectrum in Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) circles. Earlier this year, Airtel also acquired 49 percent interest in Qualcomm AP's India entities that hold BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala. 

The company has launched its 4G LTE services in Kolkata, Bengaluru and now Pune, and is currently working towards rolling out networks in remaining license circles.
