Alcatel-Lucent to Open LTE IOT Center in Taiwan
Alcatel-Lucent plans to open LTE IOT center in Taiwan at Yearend by the end of this year according to Alain Biston, Alcatel-Lucent's president for North and South Asia operations.
He recently announced the plan at a forum addressing next-generation wireless technology in Taipei. This interoperability test center would help local suppliers of networking/ communication equipment join global supply chain of LTE telecom carriers, according to a Alcatel-Lucent executive, reports cens.com.
Further he adds that his company has begun supplying LTE infrastructure equipment to carriers including NTT DoCoMo, Verizon, and SingTel, and would serve as the bridge between telecom carriers and Taiwan's equipment suppliers.
Taiwan's equipment suppliers, including Asustek Computer, Quanta Computer, VIA Technology, Elitegroup, ZyXel Communications, Gemtek and Accton Technology, are likely to become Alcatel-Lucent`s contract suppliers of LTE equipment given their existing partnership with Alcatel-Lucent in the WiMAX (worldwide interoperability for microwave access) field, according to cens.com.
Alcatel-Lucent and China Mobile recently announced that they have successfully completed the first high-definition video call over a TD-LTE network at the Shanghai World Expo.
Alcatel-Lucent’s end-to-end LTE network solution includes eNodeBs (base stations), Wireless Packet Core, IP/MPLS mobile transport, a comprehensive IMS solution and the ng Connect ecosystem with content and application vendors.
Alcatel-Lucent has been selected to support more than 45 LTE trials around the globe and has securing commercial contracts with two of the largest operators in the world.
