January 27, 2010 | Alcatel-Lucent today announced the trial of IMS-based voice calling and high definition video streaming over a wireless network using fourth generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. The trial used Cox’s AWS and 700 MHz spectrum acquired at Federal Communications auctions in 2006 and 2009 to support its wireless plans, which include wireless broadband.

For the trial, Alcatel-Lucent provided an end-to-end LTE solution including base stations (eNodeB’s), Evolved Packet Core (EPC), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and a wide array of professional services.

To date, Alcatel-Lucent’s LTE solution has been selected by operators for trials around the globe, including both lab and field trials with Tier 1 operators in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
