April 2, 2010 - Beltelecom has announced the beginning of the test and commercial operation of the wireless broadband Internet access WiMAX in Minsk. In the first stage network IEEE 802.16e is based on 22 base stations and operating at frequencies of 3.5 GHz.

Internet access in the WiMAX network can be obtained by using USB-modems. The USB-modems will be issued to subscribers under a contract for the duration of its action.The customers who use WiMAX for the first time will have a test period.

The brand of the first WiMAX network in Belarus is byfly. It provides broadband Internet access by using wired DSL connections, Wi-Fi access in public places and now - WiMAX.
