Bharti Airtel Unveils LTE Services in Bangalore

Bharti Airtel has launched LTE services in Bangalore, India followed by the recent launch of the 4G services in Kolkata.  Airtel also introduced 'Smartbytes' for 4G a plan to allow customers to buy these add-on packs and use 4G services even after exhausting their monthly data limits.

Other operators holding BWA spectrum are yet to announce plans to rollout LTE services.

Airtel has given a contract to Huawei for planning, design, supply and deploy LTE network to offer 4G mobile broadband services in Karnataka. Under the agreement Huawei will deliver LTE network infrastructure and devices. 

In February, Airtel gave Nokia Siemens Networks a contract for deploying network and services in the Maharashtra circle followed by a similar deal given to ZTE for the Kolkata circle. 

As part of an introductory offer , customers subscribing to LTE services will now be given a cash back for the dongle thus bringing device-cost to customers zero. Operator is offering LTE plan of 30 GB pack at price of Rs 2,999.

Airtel had bagged BWA spectrum in four telecom circles Kolkata, Maharastra, Punjab and Karnataka for Rs.3,314.36 crore in 2010.
