China Mobile to finish TD-LTE trials by June
China Mobile aims to complete the next phase of its 4G TD-LTE network trials by June. Operator finished first phase trials of the TD-LTE system in six cities with 850 base stations in September.
China Mobile had started testing of TD-LTE earlier this year in seven cities of Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Beijing. The trials featured seven network vendors, including Huawei Technologies Co, ZTE Corp, Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent.
China Mobile and Clearwire have already agreed to work together to accelerate the development of TD-LTE devices for a robust device ecosystem that supports multi-mode, multi-band devices with minimum component complexity and cost.
The two companies plan to work jointly to further accelerate the time-to-market availability of high volume TD-LTE chipsets and devices that should be commercially available starting in 2012.
